Artist Book, Single Edition
A while ago, while exploring Instagram, which is one of the few networks that has not yet been filtered, I came across the news of the murder the George Floyd. This news has been published in the form of a photo-video post. Before I could see the photos or videos, I received an interesting alert, Warning! The content of this post is violent. Shortly after this tragedy, Iran was involved in similar incidents. A man was arrested violently by Mashhad police. A girl was beaten by the guard of a man who raped her. Navid Afkari, a prominent Iranian wrestler, for participating in national protests in November 2020 was executed. Interestingly, news reports compared these events to the George Floyd incident. But the point was that none of these posts which contain the terrible news about Iran have not a sensitive label if they were not compared to the George Floyd incident. The Middle East has had a sensitive content label for centuries, but why does no one pay attention to it?! Is it normal to see people being killed in the Middle East? I think Yes. Susan Sontag was right; the media has made it normal for us to see bad news. Seeing a picture of a man killed on the streets on another side of the world does not affect us until we see it face to face. I used the Photobook format because flipping through papers is just like what we do when we see the news on social media. We skip them. But can we throw away our family photo album or skip it? No! that's why this book, on the other hand, is a memorable album for us to remember what is happening to us...
