Where hast tho gone?

2023

My family story is a mix of love, pain, and strength. Dealing with childhood abuse from a family member has made a challenging journey for me to deal with family emotions and sharing the complexities of familial relationships.
In this archival project which contains my family photographs archive, I try to  delve into the social hardships and individual struggles through putting myself as a subject and object. I utilize my own personal experiences with childhood abuse to share the complexities of familial relationships and to discuss and unpack my emotional struggles.
In this work the primary motifs include censorship, and transparent items to embody the buried emotions and experiences that shape my struggles. These elements collectively serve as symbols of power. Each layer symbolizes a different aspect of my journey that invites viewers to peel back these layers and to explore the depth of emotion and meaning contained within the work.
